In Memory of Marian A. Brincken


March 19, 1931 - October 3, 2022

Marian Alice Brincken was born March 19, 1931 to Hobart and Esther O’Donnell in Hertel, Wisconsin and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 3, 2022. She attended the McCarty School and graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1948.

She married her high school sweetheart, Leonard Dahlstrom on May 28, 1949. They welcomed six children, Gene, Joyce, Wayne, June, Janet and Judy. They farmed by Shell Lake and then Spooner, Wisconsin. She was a wonderful wife, mother, homemaker, gardener and worked alongside Leonard on their dairy farm. She also spent several years working as a Nurse’s Aide at the Spooner hospital, a job she absolutely loved.

She was an accomplished quilter and her hand-quilted ones were absolutely beautiful. She also made beautiful crocheted afghans. Each of her children and grandchildren were blessed with a gift of one or more of her quilts and afghans. She was a member of the Shell Lake United Methodist Church and part of the Needle Nutz group who make hats, mittens, scarves and afghans for those in need.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, second husband Clem Brincken; her daughter Judy Forsythe; step-son Ed Brincken; son-in-law Bill Brock; great-granddaughter Caitlin Hebert; great-grandson Issac Brincken; sister Nancy Anderson and brothers Dean and Neil; sister-in-laws, Mary Ann Chapman and Dorothy Lashmett; brother-in-laws, Jim Chapman, Ed Lashmett, Harry Dahlstrom and Leroy Anderson.

She is survived by her children, Gene (Sandy), Sun City West, Arizona; Joyce Brock, Granbury, Texas; Wayne (Jacky), Shell Lake; June (Chuck) Willis, Spooner and Janet (Jackie) Whisenhunt, Abilene, Texas, step-children, Betty (Farrel) Sargent, Rockford, Washington; Patsy (Vern) Fitzgerald, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Roger (Barb) Brincken, Spokane, Washington; 38 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; sister Kay Krentz, sister-in-laws, Carole O’Donnell and Verna Dahlstrom; many nieces and nephews and treasured friends.

They say we are nothing more than the stories we leave behind and she left a basketful. Her presence we will miss; her memory we will treasure.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 8, 2022 at United Methodist Church - Shell Lake with Rev. Sue Odegard officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Hertel, WI, following the luncheon at the church. Pallbearers are Gene Dahlstrom, Brett Beranek, Wayne Dahlstrom, Keith Dahlstrom, Chuck Willis, and Justin Ramos. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM .

Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland/ Turtle Lake is serving the family.
