Marian Louise Wolden, age 67, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at her residence in Spooner, Wisconsin.  She was born on September 13, 1949 in Superior, WI, the daughter of Warren and Celine (Borgerding) Peters.  

Marian attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior and later received her teaching certificate and Master’s Degree from the University of North Dakota.  She impacted many young lives as an English teacher for nearly 20 years each at Larimore High School in North Dakota and Spooner High School in Wisconsin.  She was an advocate for her fellow teachers and the teaching profession. Marian challenged the students as well as herself to be the best version of themselves. 

She enjoyed walking with Queenie, traveling, playing cards, puzzles in winter, but most of all, Marian enjoyed time with her family and many good friends. 

She is survived by her children, Abigail Sears and Matthew Wolden both of Portland, OR; her grandchildren, Ellie and Brody Sears; her siblings, Joyce Kronenberg, Janet (Bob) Anderson, Ken Peters and Kate (Rod) Steen; her loving spoiled dog, Queenie; and many nieces, nephews. 

In addition to her parents, Marian is preceded in death by her brother, Jim Peters; and her sister, Peg Lundquist. 

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 5:00 P.M. on Monday, January 9, 2017 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Spooner, where visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until the hour of Mass.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Sunshine Fund at Spooner High School which supports students in need.
