Marion Louise Olund Age 77, of Sarona, WI died Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Care Partners in Rice Lake, WI surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 26, 1940 in Clintonville, WI to Ronald and Mildred (Thurston) Schmidt. Marion graduated from Clintonville High School in 1958 and from UW River Falls in 1961 with a degree in Medical Technology. She worked at Plum City Hospital in Plum City, WI, St. Joseph Hospital, Rice Lake Clinic and Indianhead Clinic all in Rice Lake until retiring in 2002. Marion was married Edward E. Olund in 1961 at Clintonville, WI. She was an avid curler and one of the founders of the Rice Lake Curling Club in 1967 and served as Secretary - Treasurer from 1967-1980 and President from 1982-1983. Marion was a member of Long Lake Lutheran Church serving on various committees. She was a board member and treasurer of the Long Lake Preservation Association and a board member of Washburn County Lakes and Rivers Association. Marion was in the Fortnightly Club and several bridge clubs. Marion was passionate about going to her grandchildren’s events and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Edward Olund of Sarona; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tim Kiehl of Rice Lake; a son, Doug Olund of Hudson, WI; 4 grandchildren, Kasey (Tony) Bergman, Trevor Kiehl, Nikki Olund and Samantha Houle; a great grandson, Luke Bergman; a sister and brother-in-law, Sally and William Stichman of LaCrosse, WI; 3 brothers-in-law, Harvey (Jean) Olund, Leonard (Sue) Olund and Lloyd (Dotty) Olund; a sister-in-law, Elaine Smoots; and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Schmidt; mother and stepfather, Mildred and Ted Laib; and grandparents, William and Emma Schmidt. Funeral Services will be held at 1PM Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Long Lake Lutheran Church in Sarona, WI, Rev. Mary Strom officiating, with interment in the Long Lake Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 11AM-1PM Saturday at the Church. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Long Lake Lutheran Church.
