In Memory of Marjorie R. Matson


January 14, 1929 - January 14, 2024

Marjorie “Marge” Ruth Matson, age 95, of Barron, died Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Heritage Court Memory Care Center in Eau Claire.

She was born January 14, 1929 in LaCrosse, the daughter of Edward and Laura Mae (Hughes) Young.

On June 19, 1954, Marge married Raymond H. Matson in Onalaska.

One of her passions was needle work and knitting, she was able to do hardanger, crocheting, needlepoint and knit almost anything. She knit over 400 newborn caps and blankets for the hospital in Barron. She also enjoyed reading books, playing bridge, golf, fishing, hunting, and entertaining at her home.

Marge and her husband spent their retired years wintering in the Florida Keys and spending time at their cottage on Silver Lake.

Marge is survived by daughter, Frances Jacobs of State College, PA; son, Rex Koderl of Madison; grandsons, Parker (Carol) Jacobs of McHenry, MD, Brian (Sara) Koderl of Chippewa Falls and Ross Koderl, of Fountain City; great-granddaughters, Lauren and Jaclyn Jacobs of McHenry, MD; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her beloved daughters, Annette and Carol Matson; her parents; her brothers and sisters and her daughter-in-law, Karen Koderl.

A funeral service for Marge will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Barron with Rev. Joeng Lee officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday morning. Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
