In Memory of Marvin A. Marshall

April 12, 1933 - June 10, 2026

Marvin Albert Marshall, 93, of Cumberland, Wisconsin, formerly of St. Paul, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at Care and Rehab-Cumberland.

Marvin was born on April 12, 1933, in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, to Hildegard (Krick) Marshall and Marvin Marshall and was later lovingly raised by his stepmother, Regine (Schwanke) Marshall. He graduated from Monroe High School and later attended the University of Minnesota, where he earned a business degree. On October 6, 1956, he married the love of his life, Joan Friendt. Together they shared 69 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on family, friendship, and faith.

Marvin found great joy in spending time on the lake, relaxing on the pontoon, and feeding the birds. Some of his happiest moments were when his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren came to visit. Family was the center of his world.

Those who knew Marvin will remember his quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and ability to make people laugh. He always seemed to have a joke, a clever remark, or a story ready at just the right moment. Whether gathered around the card table or visiting with friends and family, Marvin's humor and warm personality made people feel welcome and at ease.

He enjoyed playing Pinochle, Cribbage, and 500 at the Cumberland Senior Center and with family and friends. He treasured the friendships he made throughout his life and especially enjoyed the many conversations, laughs, and memories shared with those around him.

Marvin is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Friendt Marshall; sons, Jeff (Amber) Marshall and Paul (Christine) Marshall; grandchildren, Josh, Jake (Grace), Cody (Tori), Shane (Haley), Seth (Kaily), and Katie Marshall; and great-grandchildren, Kayli, Frankie, Lola, Archie, Lachlan, and Teddy. In addition to his family, Marvin was blessed with the love and friendship of Steve and Ella Friendt, Gail Jelinek, and Pat Halter, who were treasured members of his extended family and remained a meaningful part of his life. He is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, and relatives, along with numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hildegard (Krick) Marshall and Marvin Marshall, his stepmother Regine (Schwanke) Marshall, and his siblings, Arlene Walker, Jim Marshall, and Shirley Weber.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Maplewood, Minnesota. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Marvin will be remembered for his devotion to family, his kindness, his love of simple pleasures, and the laughter he brought to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
