In Memory of Marvin Merle


April 17, 1937 - January 19, 2022

Marvin “Marv” A. Merle, loving husband, dad, papa, mentor and friend, age 84, a resident of Danbury, WI passed away suddenly on January 19, 2022.

Marv was born April 17, 1937, to August and Mary Ann Merle.

He married Nancy Brioschi on August 2, 1958, in St. Paul, MN.

He worked for the Great Northern Railroad and then spent 25 years with Sears Roebuck as a visual sales manager. He served as past Mayor and City Council member for the City of Oakdale, MN.

He was chairman Union Town Board, member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, active member of the Knights of Columbus, and involved in other numerous organizations.

Marv enjoyed wood working, was an avid reader and knowledge seeker and loved to pick up a round of golf any chance he could get. He enjoyed sharing stories about his life and family. His family and dog Lucy were important to him and he cherished the time spent with them.

Marv was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Delores and nephew, Brian.

He will be forever missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Nancy; children David (Jessica Stariha) Merle, Jim (Chris) Merle, Patti Narusiewicz, and Julie (Chad) Lechman; his grandchildren, Dan (Kaylyn), James, Nick, Katie, Spencer, Ciarra and Mackenzie; his dog, “pretty girl Lucy” along with other relatives and many dear friends

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 1:00 PM (visitation 11-1) at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Francis Adoboli and Father Dennis Mullen as Celebrants.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
