In Memory of Marvin W. Nieman

September 15, 1931 - January 1, 2023

Marvin William Nieman ('Marv'), of Dresser WI, a beloved husband and father, took his last breath at Regions Hospital on the morning of January 1, 2023.

Marv was born to Alexander and Alice Rose (Helmer) Nieman on September 15th 1931 at Cumberland Hospital. Alice passed away in 1934. He was raised and spent most of his formative years on the Otto G. Nieman farmstead in Stanfold Township, Barron County by his grandmother Pauline and Uncle Edward. Ed and Marv worked the farm.

He married Lois (Miller) and went into the USMC 1952. He was stationed at El Toro, Santa Anne, California. They had their first child, a daughter, Linda (Bob Butzler) in Newport Beach, CA. After his Tour of Duty in 1954 they moved back to Barron Co., WI where they had three sons Brent, Vance and Scott.

He worked at many places, including Comstock Creamery, Koser Silo, Turtle Lake Creamery, Almena Creamery, and 3M in Cumberland until 1977. He owned and operated a small saw sharpening business 'M&L Sharpening' after 3M.

After his wife Lois passed away, he was blessed and married to Darlene Yunker of Dresser WI. They spent their lives together loving God, each other, life, their children, grand and great grandchildren, and traveled until the day she passed away.

Marvin loved fishing, hunting camp up north, more fishing, playing pool and cards, traveling, even more fishing, and watching his grandkids and great grandchildren grow up.

He was recently preceded in death by his son, Brent (d. 2021); brother, Harvey (d. 2000); wives, Lois (d.1994) and Darlene (d. 2006).

He is survived by: his daughter, Linda (Bob Butzler) and their children, Michelle (Dale Rochon), Bob Jr, and Melissa (Peter Neal) and great grandchildren, Kyler, Lauren, Grace and Lexie; Brent's children, Lisa, Logan and Luca; son Vance and his children Emilie and Samantha Jo; and son Scott (Noreen Buhmann) and his daughter Isadora.

His regret was outliving his loved ones and old friends, but had cherished all his younger friends which he loved. He will be greatly missed.
