In Memory of Mary A. (Roskos) Engen


September 9, 1947 - March 23, 2025

Mary Ann (Roskos) Engen, 77, of Sarona entered into eternal life with Jesus Christ on March 23, 2025. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and was on hospice at home with loved ones by her side.

Mary was born in Black River Falls Wisconsin on September 9, 1947 to parents Alexander and Rosalie (Marsolek) Roskos. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1965. She then attended school and became a Certified Laboratory Assistant and worked at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire Wisconsin. Later she worked for the United States Postal Service in Whitehall and Spooner for 28 years, retiring in 2009.

She was united in marriage to Wayne Eugene Engen on August 12, 1967, in Black River Falls. They lived in Whitehall, Coral City, Stone Lake, and lastly moving to their current home in Sarona.

Mary had a deep affection for her housecats and numerous other pets she cared for over the years, including her "adopted" rescue big cats residing at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Arkansas. She was an avid reader, and her hobbies included sewing, cross-stitching, berry and apple picking, gardening, home canning, and tending to her beautiful flowers. Mary had a knack for baking spectacular desserts that were loved by her children and grandchildren. She was a “nurturer” to her family and a keeper of all things for them; she will be missed dearly by all of them, forever kept in their hearts.

Surviving Mary are her husband Wayne Eugene Engen Sr., children: Wayne (Lisa) Eugene Engen Jr., Anna (Raymond) Mock, Jason (Melanie) Engen, and Christopher (Leah) Engen, 8 grandchildren, brother and sister’s: Rosemary, Thomas, and Patricia. She is further survived by many family members and loved ones.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Rose Roskos, her father and mother-in-law Clifford and Alice Engen, brothers’ Ben and Joe Roskos, and numerous beloved family members.
