In Memory of Mary A. Tvedt

October 17, 1933 - March 3, 2023

Mary Ann (Heffner) Tvedt, age 89, ascended to be with her Lord on March 3, 2023 at Monroe Manor in Barron.

She was born October 7, 1933 in rural Chetek to Willard and Margaret (Balog) Heffner, joining two older brothers, Robert and Ralph “Bill”. The family farmed near Chetek and in 1935, moved to a farm in the Four Town area, southwest of Hillsdale. They also farmed south of Barron until 1943, when they moved to Barron.

She graduated from Barron High School in 1951, and soon ventured off to the big city (Minneapolis) to become an employee of both Brown & Bigelow as well as Northwest Airlines.  She regularly came home on the weekends, and on one of those trips, she was introduced to Russell Tvedt through friends. They married on March 22, 1958.

She later spent years greeting customers and helping them as a teller at the Bank of Barron (now Sterling Bank).

She is survived by many nieces and nephews; as well as longtime friends, Judy Johnson-McCabe and Marg Campbell.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and both brothers.

A prayer service will be held for Mary Ann on Wednesday, March 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Monroe Manor’s Chapel in Barron with Father Chandra Ery presiding.

Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in the spring.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
