Mary Carol Krautkramer (Kampmeyer), age 87, of Hayward, WI passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Tamarack Health Water’s Edge.

Mary was born on July 15, 1939, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Raphael and Norma (Hed) Kampmeyer. On September 12, 1959, she married the love of her life Jerome William Krautkramer in Sioux City, Iowa.

A local paper coined Mary as a “trailblazer”, raising four young children while studying to be a pharmacist at the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy, graduating in 1978. She went on to work at Sherman Hospital, where her knowledge and quick thinking helped patients through critical pharmaceutical issues.

Mary was an avid runner, bringing her running shoes wherever she went and participating in 5K and 10K races whenever possible. She also played women’s recreational softball and was known for consistently hitting home runs over the right-field fence. She was a voracious reader, especially mysteries, bird watching, and spending time with her sisters. She was deeply devoted to her family, and always ready for a challenge. In her final years, Mary was known at her nursing home for her kindness, gratitude, and warm smile.

Mary is survived by her children, Dan Krautkramer, Katie (Steve) Eyer, Erick (Dorothy) Krautkramer, and Robyn (Brian) Davis; grandchildren, Laurel, Madeline, Sarah, Anna (Ben), Ashley, Alex (Lina), Austin, and Braden; great granddaughter, Marley; siblings, Kathy (John) Burke, Barb Skaggs, Jean (Tom) Plendl; sister-in-law Jean Ann Kampmeyer; and Many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerome; brother, John Kampmeyer; and nephew, Andrew Burke.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 11:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward. A visitation will be held one hour prior.
