In Memory of Michael Johnson


January 22, 1950 - June 25, 2021

Michael L. Johnson, age 71, passed away peacefully at home on June 25, 2021. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Mike managed his illness with strength and courage. On his final day, he was surrounded by his wife Patty and daughters Michelle and Laura.

At just a few months of age, Mike’s family moved to Donna, Texas. His dad was a bridge builder, his employment then sent the young family to Trinidad and Venezuela, South America. Between the ages of four and five his parents bought a farm and settled in Webster, Wisconsin.

In the eight grade the family moved to Cottage Grove, Minnesota, where Mike graduated from Park High School in 1968, Mike’s early work ethic, learned on the farm, served him well at several companies. From a corner of his barn in Houlton, Wisconsin the company quickly outgrew several spaces, landed in Somerset, Wisconsin, where SMC is headquartered today. Many hobbies kept Mike busy in retirement years. Fishing, hunting, woodworking, flying and an avid Ham radio operator.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Lois at 96; father, Alvin (bud) at 87.

He is survived by his wife Patty; daughters, Michelle (Chris) Marshall and Laura (Chris) Johnson; sister, Patti (Chris) Blatz; grandchildren, Jenessa, Juston, Dawson, Addison, Peyton and Hunter; and nephew, David Blatz.

A graveside service with family will held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Webster, Wisconsin. A celebration of life will be held at Zia Louisa in Webster on July 13, 2021, at 12:00 PM to remember and honor this remarkable man, Mike Johnson.

Memorials preferred to Lakeview Hospice and Homecare, 5803 Neal Ave. N, Oak Park Heights, MN, 55082 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN, 38105.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
