In Memory of Michael Rizzo
Michael Rizzo, age 69, a resident of Spooner, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, December 28, 2018, at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
Michael was born on January 20, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois to parents John and Evelyn (Volsted) Rizzo. During his school years, the family moved to Buffalo, New York, where he attend South Park High School until his junior year when he joined the US Army. He would serve in the US Army from 1968 until being honorably discharged in 1970, during which time he earned his GED. In 1971, he obtained his Ministry Certificate in Schaumburg, Illinois. On July 4, 1987, he was united in marriage to Linda Mahnke in Spooner, Wisconsin. Michael worked in tool and die for Flexible Steel, he also did roofing, construction, and was also as a school bus driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking.
Michael is survived by his wife Linda, children: Christopher Rizzo of Casa Grande, AZ, Jeff (Tina) Hamblin of Spooner, Victoria Overstreet of Rice Lake, Kayla Williams of Spooner, Rose (Gary) McAllister of Hayward, Michael Rizzo of Spooner, Anthony Rizzo of Spooner, 18 grandchildren, siblings John (Sue) Rizzo of Buffalo, NY, Lynn Jentzen of Comstock, WI, and Scott Laituri of Chicago, IL.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul Rizzo, sister Rose Marie RizzoGonzales, brother in law August Jentzen, and life long friend Dan Cairns.
A service for Michael Rizzo will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019, at 11am, at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Spooner with Military Honors. Honorary casket bearers will be Jeff Hamblin, Anthony Rizzo, Michael Rizzo, Christopher Rizzo, Jason Rizzo, Matt Cairns, Buddy Vandermoon, and Gary McAllister.
