In Memory of Michael T. Toutant

December 21, 1957 - May 21, 2024

Michael Thomas Toutant passed away May 21, 2024 at the family cottage in Hayward, WI with his sister, Patty and brother-in-law, Brian by his side.

Mike was born December 21, 1957 in Beaver Dam, WI to the late Dr. Richard and Audrey (Pluckhan) Toutant.

He graduated from Beaver Dam High School. He started his working career with Ptaschinski Construction. After several years Mike became a Correctional Officer. He worked at Oshkosh Correctional until his retirement. He was a dedicated employee that was known as a friend and mentor to his co-workers. Mike truly liked going to work and was known to staff and inmates as “Two Tone.”

Mike had a passion for the outdoors. Whether chasing ducks, deer, flushing grouse or fishing, he always had a black lab at his side. Most memorable were “Rage” and “Trouble” both named by or after his sister Patty.

From May 1st until late October, he called the Chippewa Flowage home. He enjoyed spending time with his family as they came and went. Holidays were special, fish fries, squirt gun fights, games, and teasing all the children who kept coming back for more. His presence was large and there will be a huge hole where he once sat.

Deer camp may have been his favorite time (over 50 years). He will truly be missed by the gang at Toutant’s Grouse Hollow.

Mike is survived by his siblings Terese (Gary) Baier, Thomas (Gina) Toutant, William (Lori) Toutant, Amy (Roger) Salzwedel and Patty (Brian) Landsinger; stepmother, Joan Leonard Toutant; his special niece, Nicole (Mark) Lont; aunts, step-brothers, step-sister, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

There will be no formal service. A celebration of Mike’s life will take place June 15th from 1-4pm at Tom and Gina Toutant’s home, 618 S Lincoln Avenue, Beaver Dam WI, 53916.
