In Memory of Myrna L. Beckman

July 9, 1935 - August 12, 2025

Myrna Louise Beckman, 90, of Frederic, WI, passed away peacefully on August 12, due to complications from an aortic dissection at St. Croix Health in St. Croix Falls, WI. Born on July 9, 1935, in Grantsburg, WI to Birger and Edna Beckman, Myrna was a devoted daughter and cherished sister to Marvel Beckman.

A life-long member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Myrna was baptized, confirmed and celebrated ten years of perfect attendance in Sunday School there. Myrna’s faith grounded her throughout her life. She attended school in Frederic and graduated with her high school class in 1953. After graduation, Myrna moved to Los Angeles and began her career in insurance. In 1957, she moved back to Minneapolis where she continued to work for American Hardware Mutual Insurance, Co., retiring after 48 years in 2001.

Myrna had many interests, a love for reading was one of them. She wrote a review of every book she read, rating it on a scale of 1-10. Another special interest was music - she loved to listen to country and gospel music, singing along to the Oak Ridge Boys, The Statler Brothers and Daniel O’Donnell. She also went to many concerts over the years. Myrna had a great talent for playing accordion as well as the organ. Playing bingo and bowling were hobbies that she loved as well. She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and especially loved the Minnesota Vikings. In later years she became a fan of women’s basketball - the Lynx and Fever were her favorite teams.

One of the things Myrna loved the most was the time spent connecting with her friends and family, she could talk with them for hours on the phone or in person. She was a true friend, who was kind, pleasant and showed real personal interest in others. Retirement gave her the opportunity to travel and along with her sister Marvel, they enjoyed many bus trips to various places around the country. It was important to Myrna to find joy in her life and she succeeded in doing so.

Myrna was a board member for the Frederic Public Library for many years and helped with the local food shelf as well. Both she and her sister were cancer survivors and Party for a Lifetime was very important to her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Birger Beckman; her mother, Edna Beckman Williams; her step-father Lenard (Cy) Williams; and her beloved sister, Marvel. Myrna is survived by her many friends and relatives and their many memories of her. She will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Frederic on Friday, August 29 - visitation will begin at 10:00 followed by the service at 11:00. Lunch will be served following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation locally in Myrna’s memory to the Frederic Public Library or Party For a Lifetime.
