In Memory of Nancy Demers
Nancy Jo-Ann Demers, 83, of Rice Lake died Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Marshfield Medical Center. She was born November 27, 1935 in Peoria, IL to George and Frances (Smith) Scherer and was raised in So. Milwaukee. She was married in Duluth, MN on February 15, 1956 to Eugene "Joe" Demers. They lived in So. Milwaukee and Nancy worked as a waitress at Gondek's for several years and later for a packaging company. She operated a small restaurant out of the back of "Frenchy's" for a short time. They moved to Rice Lake in 1977. They were longtime members of the Rice Lake Moose Lodge and she was an avid Bingo and penny slot player.
She is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Wanda Richardson) Bodenburg of Cairo, GA; grandsons: Corby (Kristine) Bodenburg of River Falls and Kellen (Shannon) Bodenburg of Pelham, AL; great grandchildren: Elle, Emeline, McCoy, Knox and Ripley; siblings: Margaret "Peggy" Kaczmarowski, Bill (Evie) Scherer, George "Butch" (Chris) Scherer, Bob (Judy) Scherer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela; husband, Joe; siblings: Ronald, Jim, Ken and Dan.
A memorial gathering will be at the Moose Lodge-40 East Newton Street, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, leading into 7:00 Bingo.
