In Memory of Nancy R. Clark
Nancy Clark, 79 of Dresser, WI passed away the evening of 6/21/26 surrounded by the abundant love of her immediate family.
Mom was a humble, loving, caring and welcoming woman to all who knew her. Always kind and giving. She never forgot anyone’s birthday and could rattle off the day and year without hesitation, even for the many in-laws, nieces and nephews. She always ensured that our family and guests had a gift to open at Christmas.
Her greatest treasure was her family. Nothing came before those she loved. She would often think about her childhood memories, sharing many stories of growing up with six older brothers along the creek on county road S in Osceola and memories of raising her children in Dresser, WI. She had a special bond with her mom, Bessie. She leaves behind thousands of pictures bound in photo albums, all of which she treasured and loved to page-through. Oh, the stories she could tell.
In the early days, as just a couple of country kids, Steve Clark and Nancy Hoverman rode the same bus to school each day, merely acquaintances. After he graduated and went to serve in the Army, she blossomed into a young lady who would later catch his eye when he came home from the service. In June, 1965 they married. Mom saved up her school lunch money to buy him a wedding ring!
Together, they welcomed four children. While busy being a homemaker and mom to her own kids, she provided care to the neighborhood kids as well. Later, she went to work as a cook for the St. Croix Falls hospital for more than twenty years. Once retired, she enjoyed doting on her grandchildren, providing them all with a loving, safe haven filled with fun, teaching them all to play “spoons,” Monopoly and countless other games, taking them on garage sale adventures, watching movies and creating all sorts of memories for them to cherish forever.
She was an avid baker and cook. Her specialty: cakes and cookies loved by all! The annual holiday baking was a sight to behold, various breads, goodies and hundreds of sugar cookies to be frosted and decorated. Though we’ve tried to copy her skill, it’s unmatched. She loved perusing through recipes, “whipping up” muffins, bars, cookies and other goodies to have available for visits from family, sending home “extras’ with grandchildren.
Mom taught us all what unconditional love meant. She spoke words of love often, supported us all and gave amazing hugs. She exuded love and kindness, empathy and support in times of need, sometimes without saying a word, in only the way a mother could do. What will we do without her? Life won’t look or feel the same, but we have the memories and love forever.
“… and when I breathe my last, I can only hope that I have filled your soul with love, as full as you have mine. So much so, that we will always be a part of one another and should you ever find yourself missing me, just take your hand and place it against your soft, beating heart. Feel the love I have placed in there and remember me. I’ll be holding you still.” (Author unknown)
