Nancy Rae Emerson, age 66, of Rice Lake, WI, died Sunday, January 18, 2026 at her home. She was born on January 5, 1960 in Rice Lake to Leo “Jack” and Teryl (West) Posta.

Nancy graduated from Spooner High School in 1978, and graduated from WITC in Marketing and also in Administrative Assistant. She was married to Chuck Okonek and they later divorced, she then married Bill Emerson and they later divorced.

Nancy worked for Herberger’s, was a dispatcher for Hyman Freight Trucking Company, also worked for Rice Lake Weighing Systems and was a purchaser for Birchwood Lumber and Veneer.

Nancy was a gardener, a deer hunter, grouse hunter, enjoyed fishing, made crochet afghans for all her nieces and nephews and enjoyed making birch crafts - boats and candle holders and also made dream catchers. Nancy had a love to help out any animal in need. She was artsy, dramatic, and spirited. She enjoyed life, having fun and loved being outdoors.

She is survived by her son, Tim Okonek; 2 sisters, Teresa (Jim) Anderson and Sally (Martin) Didier; a brother, David Posta (Kelly); many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo “Jack” and Teryl Posta. A celebration of her life will be held from 4-6PM Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
