In Memory of Palmer M. Solberg

June 11, 1926 - May 15, 2023

Palmer Malcolm Solberg, 96, of Chippewa Falls, Wis., and formerly of Chetek, Wis., passed away Monday, May 15, 2023, at Home Suite Home in Chippewa Falls.

He was born June 11, 1926, in Cameron, Wis., the son of Malcolm and Elizabeth (Rudolph) Solberg.

Palmer worked hard all of his life. Among those jobs, he worked in Washington State tending cherry orchards, in Chetek at the Chetek Boat Factory, and as a custodian for Chetek High School and Roselawn Elementary School. He enjoyed taking trips to the cabin in Minong and to Las Vegas with his wife Lorraine. He always had a project to work on and collected beer taps for quite a while, although he never did find the elusive Breunig tap. Palmer loved to sing and wasn't shy about breaking out in song to family, friends, and strangers alike. Many people will remember him singing about his "old Model A."

Palmer is survived by two sons, Donald Solberg, of Colfax, Wis., and Brad Solberg, of Palm Springs, Calif.; two daughters, Darla Garner, of Altoona, Wis., and Barb (Kevin) Haller, of New Auburn; nine grandchildren, April Solberg, Aaron Miller and Amanda (Andy) Seever; Andrew Anderson and Halley (Travis) Anderson; Mitch (Katie) Turgeson, Justin Turgeson, Justin (Maribeth) Haller and Nick Haller; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Harelstad, of Chetek; and one brother, Dale (Gale) Solberg, of Chetek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Elizabeth Solberg; his wife, Lorraine Solberg; one daughter, Linda Anderson; one grandson, Joshua Turgeson; two sisters, Betty and Olive; and one brother, Lawrence.

The funeral service is planned for Monday, May 22, at Chetek Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Visitation is 11:30 a.m. until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cameron.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
