Patricia Gilberg, age 87, a longtime resident of Spooner, died on Friday, December 30, 2016, at Care Partners in Spooner.

Patricia was born on April 30, 1929, in La Crosse, Wisconsin to parents Alvin and Ruth (Hanifl) Bakkum.  On July 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Richard F. Gilberg in La Crosse and lived there until the family moved to Spooner in 1966.  While living in La Crosse, she worked as a secretary for the Trane Company and also for Gunderson Clinic.  After moving to Spooner, she continued work as a secretary for Trinity Lutheran Church, as a clerk at Fairway Foods, and was a Sales Lady for Avon Products, and lastly she worked as an owner of her clothing store named Mode O’ Day.  Patricia served as Cub Scout Leader when her boys were young, and later was a babysitter extraordinaire for her grand and great grandchildren. 

 Patricia is survived by her daughters: Barb (Joe Rittorno) Gilberg of Spooner, Debbie (Jerry) Thompson of Spooner, sons: Dave “Lumpy” Gilberg of Spooner, Dan (Cindy) Gilberg of Texas, Elton (Kelli) Langland of Minneapolis,  grandchildren: Joel Peterson, Chris (Katie) Thompson, Matt (Hillary) Thompson, Heather Gilberg, Rachael Gilberg, Megan Gilberg, Jake Gilberg, Josh Gilberg, Sam Holden, Ryley Holden, great grandchildren: Alex Peterson, Jordan Gilberg, Ava Thompson, Layla Thompson, Abram Thompson, Alice Thompson, sister in law Jo Ann Gilberg, special friends Tami Holden, Debbie Durand and Mary Jensen, and nieces and nephews. 

 Patricia is preceded in death by her husband Richard, son Rick Gilberg, parents Alvin and Ruth Bakkum, brothers: Rod, Sherwood, and Stafford Bakkum, and sister Jackie Eckdale. 

 Memorial services for Patricia Gilberg will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 1:00 PM at the Spooner Funeral Home with John Meacham officiating.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.  Honorary casket bearers will be her grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, memorials would be greatly appreciated to Regional Hospice 819 Ash St., Spooner, Wisconsin 54801.  Online condolences may be left at www.bratley-nelsonchapels.com
