The family of Patricia (Gray) Horn Brasfield celebrates the life well lived by this special and proud Irish rose. Born to John and Grace Gray on June 29, 1934, Pat passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, at the age of 91 in Rice Lake, WI.

Pat spent most of her youth, including her high school years in Baraboo, WI. She was an only child that was surrounded by wonderful extended family and friends. Her cousins, and numerous aunts and uncles provided many adventures and special times that she cherished. In 1952, she was recognized for her talent and beauty being named Miss Baraboo and a runner-up to Miss Wisconsin USA , a memory she treasured. She met her husband of 21years in Baraboo, Al Horn, formerly of Paw Paw, MI. Their life together included homes in Madison and Wisconsin Dells. Pat was a devoted mother to their four children. Al Horn was a teacher and Varsity Basketball Coach in the Dells. Pat was his biggest fan and proudly cheered on the Chiefs and supported school events for many years. She was an active community volunteer and later worked with the CESA 7 organization, where she found deep fulfillment in providing children access to early education and District resources.

Pat worked at Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point and at the Federal Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in the Arlington/Fort Worth area. Pat enjoyed her time in Arlington, TX. She was very active in her faith community, as a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She married Arthur Brasfield for a short period of time and developed incredible long time friends that she considered family, especially Grace, Anna, and Diane. A devout Catholic throughout her life, Pat found joy and purpose in singing in the church choir. Upon arriving in Rice Lake, she became a member of the Perpetual Prayer group at Our Lady of Lourdes in Dobie. Her faith brought her deep comfort, as did her friendships with her Rice Lake community—especially Judy and Mary. She enjoyed playing the piano, caring for her beloved pets and shopping for special Christmas figurines and collectible dolls. Proud of her Irish heritage, Pat was known for her spirited personality and sharp, witty sense of humor. She loved the simple pleasures of life: sharing coffee and cookies with friends.

Patricia’s proudest accomplishment was her family. Her four children and their spouses brought her great joy: Julie (Gary) Friermood, Therese (Dean) Richards, John (Tracee) Horn and Jeff (Dena) Horn. She loved being a grandmother and to her way of thinking, there would never be enough time to spend with her grandkids, Jayme and Kristi.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Sincere thanks to her very special friends for their prayers, visits and concern.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Stephen Holthaus of Marshfield Clinic for his years of service to Pat and kindness to her family; the staff of Care Partners/VitaCare Living in Rice Lake for their care and understanding; Four Parishes One Faith for sharing their sacraments and faith, the team at Heartland Hospice, whose compassion, guidance and care will not be forgotten; and, Appleyard’s Home for Funerals for their kindness and knowledge through this journey.
