In Memory of Patricia L. Ekern


February 16, 1944 - February 10, 2024

Patricia L. Ekern, 79, of Chetek, Wisconsin, passed away on February 10, 2024 at the Marshfield Medical Center - Marshfield. She was born February 16, 1944 in Markesan, Wisconsin, the daughter of Jerome T. and Inez (Cory) Taube.

Pat met her husband Ron in Milwaukee where they were married in 1967. From there, they moved with their baby son Ronnie II to Potsdam, New York, where Ron earned his PhD in Physics. Their second son, Cory, was born in Potsdam. They lived in Verona, Wisconsin from 1979 until retirement in 1995. While in Verona, Pat earned a degree in Behavioral Science and Law from the University of Wisconsin They moved to Chetek, WI, in 1999, ancestral home of Ron’s father and grandfather, and spent several winters in Tucson, Arizona, and San Angelo, Texas.

Pat was a prolific letter writer who always hand wrote cards and letters to all her friends and family, complete with stickers on the envelopes and cards. This was her way to share the caring she felt for them. They, in turn, looked forward to her writings. She enjoyed her book club, always had cats, birds and squirrels around, and never missed a family function.

Pat is survived by her son, Cory G. Ekern, brother-in-law Philip (Ann) Ekern, Leesburg, Fl, sisters- in-law Ann (Tom) Willson, Gainesville, Fl, Leslye (Steve) Fesler, Grand Island, Fl, and by nieces, nephews and cousins by marriage. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ron, and son Ronald J. Ekern II.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
