In Memory of Paul A. Aasen


February 25, 1929 - April 29, 2026

Paul Alert Aasen Age 97, of Rice Lake, WI, died Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at his home. He was born on February 25, 1929 in Albert Lea, MN to John and Caroline Aasen. He entered the United States Navy and was later Honorably Discharged.

Paul was a dairy farmer, raised chickens, and then became pork producers in Freeborn County, MN. He was married to Lois Kruger on September 4, 1949 in Albert Lea, MN.

Paul had many passions over the years, a few to mention are yard work, gardening, working on tractors, working on puzzles and woodworking. Paul enjoyed a warm summer day sitting with Lois fishing.

Paul had a dream to own and fly a plane, and in 1969 that dream became a reality. He was very involved at the Rice Lake Senior Center and would help out anyone that needed his help. Paul enjoyed being active at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rice Lake gardening, maintenance and small projects.

Paul is known to bring joy to all in the room. He loved to make people laugh and see joy in the world. His life outlook was to alway be kind, happy, generous, and thankful. Paul would help anyone who needed help, whether as a handyman, friend to lean on or a stranger at the senior center or any public place. Paul was the best man and family member you could ever have. He will be loved and missed forever by all that knew him.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Rosanna (Pat) Staloch, Sharon Aasen and Diane Jacobs; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Aasen; a son Paul (Eileen) Aasen; a grandson, Jacob Herman; a granddaughter, Heather Herman; 4 brothers, Eric, Edgar, Carroll and Oscar; and 5 sisters, Inga, Agnes, Olive, Lillian, and Ruth. 

Funeral Services will be held at 1PM Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI, where Full Military Rites will be accorded him by the Rice Lake Veteran Service Honor Guards. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Funeral Service prior to the funeral service at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
