In Memory of Paul D. Stavne

January 9, 1956 - June 20, 2023

Paul Stavne of Grantsburg, Wisconsin tragically died after colliding with a deer on his motorcycle on June 20, 2023.

Paul was born January 9th, 1956, and grew up in Maynard, MN.

Growing up in a small town he spent his time with his brothers and friends riding bikes, making rafts for the river, hunting, fishing, and causing mischief around town. He also enjoyed Boy Scouts, football, and wrestling. After graduation he went on to school for carpentry and spent his working years proudly building bridges and commercial buildings in the metro area.

Paul made the incredible decision to get sober and honored that fully since 1985, setting a new legacy for his life and family. In 1985 Paul met Kris in Mankato, they were married in 1987 and settled in Grantsburg. They raised three beautiful children, and all enjoyed doing everything together.

Paul put his heart into everything. He was passionate, full of conviction, and a hard worker. He and Kris surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ in 1987 and their lives found their true purpose. Paul was a man of many talents and he endured many tragedies. Despite all the things that were stolen and lost in his lifetime, he was still a man that loved and cared deeply. He would talk to anyone and would be sure to share his love for Jesus, fishing, his boats, Harleys, and fireworks. Paul will be remembered for many things, but what we are most thankful for is that he loved Jesus and his family.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Eileen Stavne; brother and sister-in-law, Gunner and Darlene Pearson; and mother and father-in-law, Bruce and Marguerite Mondahl.

Paul is survived by his loving family, wife, Kris; children, Jeremiah (Rebekah), Lauren (Steve) Frey, and Erin (Garrett) Bennett; grandchildren, Annalee and Alec Stavne, Levi and Landon Bennett; brother, Peter (Sue) Stavne; sisters-in-laws, Julie (Chuck) Probach and Kathy (Kevin) Cole; and several nieces and nephews.

He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life will take place on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM (visitation from 9-11 AM) at Grace Baptist Church in Grantsburg with Pastor Nate Puccini Officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home.
