Peggy Ann Slack, age 71, of Rice Lake, WI, died Saturday, June 7, 2025 in Marshfield, WI. She was born on September 8, 1953 in Rice Lake to Albert and Dorothy (Putnam) Wampfler.

Peggy graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1971. She worked for Birchwood Manufacturing, Wright Products, and Marshfield Clinic as an office worker. Peggy was married to Ricky Slack on November 6, 1982 in Rice Lake. She was also a playground attendant at Tainter Elementary School in Rice Lake. She volunteered at the Community Cat Rescue and Adoption Center in Rice Lake where she loved being with all the cats. She enjoyed photography, making crafts, reading, and gardening. She spoke honestly, made her point quickly, was very personable, a kind person, and very compassionate.

She is survived by her husband, Ricky Slack; 4 sisters, Bonnie Koepp, Jayne Wampfler, Sandy (Sydney) Allwein and Ruth “Billie” Wampfler (Jeffrey Essick); a brother, Thomas (Deb) Wampfler; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Dorothy Wampfler; and a sister, Susan Madsen.

Funeral Services will be held at 1PM Friday, June 27, 2025 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake. Visitation will be held from 11AM-1PM Friday, June 27, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Community Cat Rescue and Adoption Center in Rice Lake.
