In Memory of Philip Videen


Philip David Videen (Phil) passed away peacefully May 9, 2021.

Phil is survived by his son, Ronald (Linda) Videen; daughter, JoAnn Hirschey; grandchildren, Gina (Lance) Himmelwright, Greg Videen, Tony Videen, Jennifer (Matt) Giza, Josh (Nicole) Hirschey; eight great-grandchildren and his sister, Ruby Stoklasa.

Phil is preceded in death by his wife, Elvira; parents, Walter and Ruth Videen; brothers, Harold, Gilmore, Gerald and sister, Lavonne Gorr.

Phil was born January 1923 in Eureka Center, Wisconsin. He worked as a young man on a farm in the Lykens, Wisconsin area where he met his bride to be, Elvira Coozennoy. Phil enlisted in the Army and was a T5 Corporal and served in WWII in France. At the end of the war Phil continued to serve helping the injured soldiers at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia. Phil and Elvira were married in 1946 until Elvira’s death in 1994 (48 years). They had two children, Ron and JoAnn. Phil worked as a bartender in Webster and Luck for many years, then he worked at Champion Aircraft in Osceola. After that he took a job as a truck driver for Pete’s Dray Line in Luck, and later for Olson’s Transfer in Osceola.

Phil loved to fish with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for those great tasting bluegills. Phil was an avid deer and grouse hunter. He was proud to be a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Dominic Church in Frederic.

Visitation starts at 10:00 am at St. Dominic Catholic Church on Friday, May 21, 2021 in Frederic, Wisconsin. Mass will follow at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Knights of Columbus at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Frederic, WI or Traditions of Frederic.

Arrangements are entrusted to Rowe Funeral Home.
