In Memory of Richard C. Coen


November 13, 1934 - September 9, 2023

Richard “Dick” C. Coen was born on November 13, 1934, to Everett and Yrsa Coen in Frederic, WI.

Dick lived in rural Luck, Laketown Township the majority of his life. He attended Northstar Grade School and Luck High School graduating in 1953. In 1958, he married Judy E. Frandsen and in this union, they raised their three children, Tom Coen of Milltown, WI, Dan Coen of Frederic, WI, and Becky Doll of Rice Lake, WI. His career spanned serving in the US Army from 1959 until 1962, with two years in Germany. When he returned to Luck he attended UW River Falls and obtained a degree in Agricultural Education/Biology. He worked as a loan officer in the Ag industry for FmHA, and PCA for his entire career.

He served as a volunteer in many capacities, from positions with Polk County Government, 37 years on the Luck Pioneer Home board, a driver for Polk County Development, an EMT for Northland Ambulance of Luck, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, and a 4H leader.

In 1991, Dick married Carol A. (Asper) Park. He gained a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Pam (Park) and Phil Stratmoen of St. Croix Falls, WI.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Yrsa Coen; sister, Phyllis; wife, Carol Park-Coen.

He leaves to mourn, sons, Tom Coen, and Dan Coen; daughters, Becky Doll and Pam (Phil) Stratmoen; sister, Pat Amundsen; grandsons, Matthew (Danielle) Park, and Nathon (Justin Musiel) Park; granddaughters, Kaija (Kevin) Hikel, Leah (Marc) Gilker, Kim Doll, and Mariah (Austin) Steinburg; great-grandchildren, Elias, Judah, Felix, Tirzah, Jubilee, Cedar, Corinth Hikel, Coen and Wells Gilker.

A Celebration of Life for Richard will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Luck, Wisconsin.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. at the church. Please join the family for lunch and fellowship in the church basement following the service.

He will be laid to rest at St. Peter’s Church Cemetery in a private family service.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
