In Memory of Richard H. Hecht


July 13, 1936 - May 30, 2024

Richard Henry "Dick" Hecht, 87, of Cumberland passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Care and Rehab-Cumberland. He was born July 13, 1936 in Somerset, WI to Joseph and Genevieve (Boucher) Hecht.

After serving his country for two years in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, Dick was married in Pine City, MN on June 17, 1961 to Rose Marie Branca.

Dick spent his 37 year career in Abrasives Manufacturing at 3M in Cumberland. Though quiet, he was great friend to everyone, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for his friends and family. He was a master builder - there was no project he couldn’t fix or build. Dick also enjoyed hunting at his cabin, and was a caretaker at Timberland Ringebu Cemetery for over 25 years. Last, but not least, he was known to share a beer in the garage with friends.

Dick is survived by stepdaughter, Sandi (Mark) McHenry of Cumberland; grandchildren; Jeff (Linda) Bergstrom and Dean (Pam) Bergstrom; great- grandchildren, Hannah (Cory) Nelson, Beau (Laura) Bergstrom, Kyla Bergstrom (Kyle) and Kalley (Lyndon) Paquette; great-great grandchildren, Ivin and Jack Nelson, and Grayson Bergstrom; sister-in-law, Yvonne Jenkins; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Hecht; parents, Joseph and Genevieve Hecht; and stepfather, Joseph Jenkins; siblings, Phyllis, Don, David, Robert, Gary, and Cheryl; and close friend, Tom Schultz.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, June 3rd, 2024 at Augustana Lutheran Church of Cumberland with Pastor Shane Anderson officiating. A luncheon will follow the service. Interment Timberland Ringebu Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Dean Bergstrom, Jeff Bergstrom, Beau Bergstrom, Mark McHenry, Cory Nelson, Tom Westin. Honorary pallbearers are Hannah Nelson, Kyla Bergstrom, Kyle Zimbrick, Kalley Paquette, Lyndon Paquette, Ivin Nelson, Jack Nelson, Laura Bergstrom, and Grayson Bergstrom.

Visitation will be held one hour prior at church.

Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland is serving the family.
