RICHARD LOUIS NELSON, age 97, of Stone Lake, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 14, 1928, Rick lived a long and full life marked by generosity, comradery, and kindness. He married the love of his life Shirley Marie Whittemore, with whom he shared many years of marriage until her passing in 2008.

Rick spent more than four decades working as a mechanic, HVAC installer, and a carpenter, known for his ingenuity and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His workshop was his sanctuary, and he often gifted family and friends with pieces he built by hand.

Above all Rick enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a great-great-grandfather. Who never missed a birthday, graduation or a family gathering. His stories will be remembered fondly by all that heard them.

Rick is survived by his daughter Diana Sarver, Durand IL; his grandchildren Bryce Bowman (Jie), Castle Rock CO; Brady Bowman (Jessica), Durand IL; Stacy Phillips (Billy), Stone Lake, Angie Nelson, Stone Lake; Brandy Metcalf (John), Stone Lake and eleven great grandchildren and 6 great-great children. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley and his son Randy.

A private internment will take place at the Stone Lake Evergreen Cemetery on November 17. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 6, from 2:00 pm to 5:00p.m. at the Stone Lake Firehall

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness and generosity.
