Richard ‘Rich’ Lee Benny, 49, passed away surrounded by his family on July 2, 2026 after a hard battle with cancer.

Rich was born March 11, 1977 in Minneapolis, MN to Bernie and Debra Benny. He was a huge sports fan and played several sports, such as Hockey and Baseball, while growing up in the Minnetonka area. He could tell you stats from just about every sport throughout the year. Being a football fan as well, he enjoyed being a part of his fantasy football league that has been ongoing with his close friends for 25+ years.

Rich also had a passion for cooking. He enjoyed going to the farmers markets on the weekends and shopping at various stores to find something new to try. He loved making meals for others and learning how to smoke various kinds of meats.

If Rich had an extra moment of time, you would find him on the riverbank or on the lake trying to catch the next big fish.

His biggest joy was the time he spent with his kids. From daddy daughter day grabbing coffee together, to going fishing on the lake teaching the kids how to fish, and quiet evenings together, he treasured the moments they shared. His love for them was constant, and the memories they created together will be cherished forever.

He is survived by his parents Bernie and Deb Benny, brother, Chris; sons, Keigan and Peyton (Megan) Benny; daughters, Nora and Caylan Benny; his girlfriend, Amy Enget and her children Morgan, Connor, Jaden.

He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Rich's celebration of life will be held at the Skinner Funeral Home on July 19, 2026 from Noon - 4 PM. Please come share memories and conversation with family and friends.
