In Memory of Robert B. Sopher


June 15, 1936 - July 27, 2026

Robert “The Road Runner” Bruce Sopher, age 90, of New Auburn, WI, died Monday, July 27, 2026 in Barron, WI. He was born on June 15, 1936 in Streator, Illinois to George and Florence (Kuhle) Sopher and graduated from Streator High School.

Bob entered the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict and was later Honorably Discharged. He was married to Carole Boeck in Milwaukee, WI.

Bob worked for the United States Forest Service for many years. He loved fly fishing, photography, listening to jazz music, reading maps, hiking, camping, drinking beer and going out for breakfast at different cafes.

Bob was a jokester, being around people and especially loved being with his family.

He is survived by his 2 daughters, Sandy Roux (Scott Retzloff) and Susan Werner; a son, Mark (Nancy) Stahl; 3 granddaughters, CarolAnn (Joe) Truse, Amanda (Steve) Davenport and Abby Werner; 2 great-grandchildren, Jordan and Connor; a son-in-law, Chuck Werner; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Sopher; his parents, George and Florence Sopher; a son-in-law, Patrick Roux; his companion, Grace Rodzenak; and a brother, Donald (Alda) Sopher.

Graveside Services will be held at 2PM Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
