In Memory of Robert J. Buckwheat


December 23, 1943 - August 31, 2022

Robert Joseph Buckwheat, age 79, passed away surrounded by his family on August 31, 2022 in Radisson.

He was born on December 23, 1943 in Radisson to Roy and Dorothy(Koed) Buckwheat.

Bob graduated from winter high school and then entered the US national guards where he served for three years. He was married to Deanna Berhausen on June 4, 1966. They lived in Green Bay Wisconsin for a time where he worked as a mechanic at Truck Equipment. They later moved back to Radisson where they built a house and raised their three children. Bob worked as an electrician, truck driver, and later as a custodian at the Winter high school until his retirement. Bob loved spending time with his family and friends and being outdoors. You could usually find him in the backyard gardening, grilling out, playing horseshoes, or enjoying a beer by the fire. He also loved to fish and hunt and he was a great cook. Bob loved to play pranks and make people laugh.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sherri Goede and Amanda (Nick) Gifford, 3 grandchildren Nicholas, Jenna and Carly. 2 brothers Kenny(Rae) Buckwheat and Richard Buckwheat. And many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Buckwheat. A son, Robert Buckwheat Jr. Parents Roy and Dorothy Buckwheat. 2 brothers Larry “Buck” Buckwheat and Jim Grimh, a sister, Karen “Toots” Phillipi, and a nephew Randy Gutowski. And his beloved dog “Looty” Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, and his smile and laughter will live on in our hearts forever.

Graveside service will be held on October 1, 2022 at the Radisson cemetery at 11:30 AM. A celebration of life will follow at riverside golf and recreation at 12:30.
