In Memory of Robert M. Ostenson
Robert Mayo Ostenson “Ostie” passed away March 11th, 2024 at his home in Spooner, Wisconsin. He was 7 days away from his 93rd birthday.
Robert Mayo Ostenson born March 17, 1931 to Edwin and Martha (Davis) Ostenson of Barron Wisconsin. Robert graduated from Barron High School in 1949. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1950 – 1954 during the Korean War. He married Ilene Yvonne Nelson on December 20, 1952. They had 6 girls and 2 boys. After coming to know Christ as his personal Savior, Robert sold the family farm and attended Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis, MN from 1959 to 1962. In 1963, Robert moved the family to Stone Lake, Wisconsin where he purchased a Laundromat and began working for the Department of Natural Resources in Spooner until 1990. In 1975 Robert and Ilene built a new home near Spooner, along the Yellow River. Robert faithfully served the Lord at Spooner Baptist Church as a youth leader, Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon. Robert lived a happy and enjoyable life with all his family and friends.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Martha Ostenson, his brother Edwin Jr., his sister Eloise and daughter Cyndria Lee (Coaty)
Robert is survived by his wife Ilene Yvonne (Nelson), having been married 71 years, his children Robert II, Cheryl Soelle (Brent), David (LouAnn), Yvonne (Edward) Ellingson, Judy Juarez and Debra (Troy) Dreyer, many nieces and nephews, 30 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Spooner Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with a visitation starting at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Wayside Cemetery in Barron.
