In Memory of Robert Richter


February 18, 1950 - December 3, 2020

Robert “Bob” C. Richter, age 70, a resident of the Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg, WI passed away peacefully at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN on December 3, 2020.

Bob was born in Siren, WI on February 18, 1950 to Robert and Dorothy Richter. He attended grade school at Indian Creek, West Sweden, and Frederic, graduating in 1968. Along with his best buddy Mike McClay, they enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on June 10, 1968. Bob served until 1972.

For a number of years, he was an over the road truck driver while making his home in Dixon, IL. He was a Boy Scout Leader, loved gardening, playing cards, fishing, and rock collecting. His greatest passion was his Harley Davidson motorcycles, especially on the New Year going for a ride around the block.

In 1988, he moved back to Wisconsin, where he worked in construction and at Parker Hannifin until his retirement.

On June 10, 2010 he suffered a serious stroke, paralyzing his left side and creating new challenges in life which he conquered heroically. He also endured many struggled due to diabetes. Through it all, the love and compassion from his family kept him going, until another stroke ended his suffering.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bill and Dean and a beloved niece, Anna Richter.

Bob is survived by his siblings, Patsy (Larry) Tucker, Betsy (Wally) Rightman, Mitsy (Terry) Adolphson, Nancy Tober, Bernard Richter, Bonny Richter, Donna (Al) Woodrich, Diane (Roy) Jones, Doug Richter, Dale Richter and Darcy Richter; his friend, Mike McClay; along with many nieces, nephews and families, aunts, uncles and cousins.

His family is grateful for the compassionate care given to Bob by the Continuing Care Center.

There will be a graveside service with military honors on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 11:00 am at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg.
