In Memory of Rodney "Rod" A. Visger

August 26, 1953 - August 1, 2026

Rodney "Rod" Allen Visger, age 72, of Clayton passed away in the early hours of August 1, 2026 at Regions Hospital with his beloved wife, Kim, by his side. He was born August 26, 1953 in Superior, WI to Marvin and Dorothy (Hughes) Visger.

Rod grew up in Dairyland and attended Webster schools.

In adulthood, he married Kim Backlund, and became her social butterfly. He thrived on connecting with others, and met many people through his work at the St. Croix Casino, where he was employed for 25 years. Many of his neighbors can attest to his willingness to help with mowing the lawn, or plowing out their driveways each winter.

He spent free time in younger years hunting and fishing with son, Andy, as well as watching WWE wrestling and other hunting and fishing shows. More recently he enjoyed being a driver for the local Amish community, and spending time with the newest loves of his life - his granddaughters.

Kim and Rod were proud to celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary just last month on July 5th, of which they celebrated with McDonalds.

Rod leaves behind his wife, Kim; son, Andrew “Andy” Visger (Angie); granddaughters, Rylee and Parker; siblings, Harriet (Clark) Erickson, Tim (Gail) Visger, Greg Visger, Julie (Steve) Yezek; sisters-in-law, Lola Visger, RaeAnn Backlund, and JeanAnn (Chad) Smykalski; and brother-in-law, Butch (Gail) Backlund.

He was preceded in death by daughters, Beth and Erin Visger; parents, Dorothy and Marvin Visger; parents-in-law, Char and Ray Backlund; brother, Gene Visger; and pup, London.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Saturday, August 22nd from 1 - 4 PM at The Ritsche Pavillion in Turtle Lake, WI.
