Roger Turner, age 77, of Trego, WI passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Indianhead Medical Center in Shell Lake, WI.

Roger Reed Turner was born September 9, 1946 in Rockford, IL. Roger was raised in Rockford and was an avid baseball player growing up. Roger continued his education at Bradley University until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1966. Roger served as a navy photographer. After his honorable discharge, Roger spent time traveling the country by motorcycle before returning to college at Northern Illinois University where he met his future wife, Karen Namyst. Roger began work as an accountant, living in Indiana, Hawaii and then back to Illinois. In 1992, Roger and his family moved to Lake Nebagamon, WI and Roger worked in Duluth, MN for Davidson Printing. In 2004, Roger got an associate degree at Lake Superior College in Duluth in Auto Mechanics and eventually taught there. Roger and Karen purchased land on Trego Lake and Roger built a cabin on the property that they made their home. Roger enjoyed fishing being out in nature enjoying its beauty. He was an avid reader who also enjoyed doing sudoku and picture puzzles. Roger will be remembered by his family for his intelligence, kindness and warm heart.

Roger is survived by his wife, Karen; two children, Shane Turner of Luck, WI, April (Nick) Lowenberg of Middleton, WI; two grandchildren, Madeline and Maximus; two brothers, Brad (Terri) Turner of Minneapolis, MN, Ross (Sherri) Turner of St. Paul, MN; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Jean (Olson) Turner, and one brother, Perry Turner.

A memorial service celebrating Roger’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Spooner Funeral Home with Pastor Heather Kistner officiating. A time of gathering with Roger’s family will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
