In Memory of Ronald E. Hanson
Ronald Elmo Hanson, known by everyone as Ron, was born on July 18, 1942, in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. He passed away on June 1, 2026, in Osceola, Wisconsin, after a long and courageous journey with dementia. Ron was a steady, kind-hearted man who will be deeply missed, and his memory will continue to bring comfort to those who loved him.
Ron was the beloved husband of Kathlene S. Hanson. Together they built a life full of love, partnership, and quiet strength. He is survived by his sons, Brian Hanson and his wife Theresa, and Bruce Hanson and his wife Sarah. He was also a proud grandfather to Zach, Cole, Ethan, and Andrew, who will always carry his love, guidance, and example with them. Family meant everything to Ron—he was happiest when he was surrounded by them.
Ron graduated from Luck High School in 1960 and carried a strong work ethic with him throughout his life. Over the years, he wore many hats—working as a banker, carpenter, real estate broker, and appraiser. No matter the job, he brought dedication, honesty, and a willingness to do things right. He believed in hard work and took pride in it every day.
He also enjoyed teaching real estate and appraisal, sharing his knowledge with others and helping guide people starting out in the field. Ron served on the Wisconsin Realtors Association Board, where he contributed his experience and common-sense approach. He wasn’t one for recognition-he simply cared about doing good work and helping others.
Ron gave back to his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Luck Fire Department of 41 years and an EMT of Town & Country Ambulance for many years. Ron volunteered for the Winter Carnival Committee and was a constant voice at many Luck parades.
Ron was a lifelong member of Luck Lutheran Church singing as a bass in the choir for more than 50 years. He was always ready to help when people needed it most. He lived his Christian faith quietly but faithfully, showing kindness, patience, and care in how he treated others.
People will remember Ron for his humor, his wisdom, and his genuine kindness. He had a way of making people feel welcome and at ease, and he always had something thoughtful—or funny—to say. He was someone you could count on, someone whose presence made things better.
In his free time, Ron enjoyed music, reading, and word puzzles. He also loved working outdoors, always finding something to build, fix, or improve. He found joy in simple things and took pride in keeping busy and creating something useful.
Even as dementia slowly changed parts of his later years, it never took away who he truly was or the love he shared with others. His life is not just remembered with sadness, but with deep gratitude for all the years he gave to his family, his work, and his community.
Ron was many things—a husband, father, grandfather, veteran, teacher, craftsman, and friend—but above all, he was a good man. Luck, WI is a better place because he dedicated his life to community stewardship and service.
Those who knew him will carry his memory forward—through his laughter, his lessons, and the love he gave so freely. His life was full of purpose, and he leaves behind a legacy of family, faith, and genuine care for others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Hanson and L. Evelyn (Sorenson) Hanson-Skow and a brother from his dad’s side, Curtis Hanson.
He is survived by his wife, Kathlene, two sons, Brian Hanson (Theresa) of Marshfield, WI, Bruce Hanson (Sarah) of Houlton, WI; grandchildren, Zachary, Cole, Ethan and Andrew.
