In Memory of Ronald Kieffer


November 29, 1932 - July 22, 2019

Ronald “Sawdust” George Kieffer Age 86, of Cumberland, WI died Monday, July 22, 2019 at the Cumberland Healthcare in Cumberland, WI.

He was born on November 29, 1932 in Dakota County, MN to Peter and Louise (Fox) Kieffer. Ron attended school at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Trier and helped out on the family dairy farm. He entered the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged and was married to Shirley Hanson on August 7, 1954 in Faribault, MN. Ron was a carpenter and built many homes in the area. He also taught Snowmobile Safety for many years. Ron was a Knight of Columbus member since he was 18 where he became was a 4th Degree Knight. He loved to share, garden, hunt, fish, volunteering, working on Toys for Tots where he made hundreds of toys for the children, his sense of humor, he lived for the little kids in the family. He loved to woodwork and loved to feel the wood. Ron loved all of his dogs he had during his life, enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Kieffer of Cumberland, WI; 9 children, Yvonne (Fran) Arendt, Julie (Gary) Bauer, Gene (Mary) Kieffer, Larry Kieffer, Sue (Joe) Girgen, Stephanie (Bryan) Aho, Peggy (Jerry) Hokanson, Carolyn (Randy) Colby and Scott (Tawyna) Kieffer; 27 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann Tretvsen; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Louise Kieffer; a sister, Alonza Raway.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Monday, July 29, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, WI, Father Samuel Schneider and Father Dennis Mullen officiating, with interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Trier, MN. Visitation will be held from 9-11AM Monday at the Church.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
