In Memory of Rose A. Nelson (Lund)

April 1, 1926 - January 31, 2025

Rose Adeline Nelson, age 98, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025. Rose was born April 1, 1926 to parents to Clarence and Hulda (Dahlberg) Lund and lived in Siren, WI until her marriage to Wallace (Wally) Nelson on July 20, 1946. They lived in Oregon, Kentucky, South Dakota, and Minnesota, retiring back at home in Siren. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Rose and Wally recently celebrated 77 years of marriage. They enjoyed traveling together and spending time with family and friends. Rose enjoyed cooking and baking for family. When you arrived at her house, she remembered your favorite foods and made sure they were on hand. Summers at the lake were always a highlight as she enjoyed watching (and feeding) her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitors couldn’t leave her house without “coffee,” which always included cookies and cake, and often included a sandwich. Rose was a beautiful seamstress, making many of her own clothes and those of her grandchildren. She lovingly hand quilted large quilts for each of her family members.

Rose loved the outdoors, gardening, and watching the wildlife. She had a large garden at every home they had and was an expert at canning and preserving their produce. Rose was active in the community through the Women’s Auxillary of the American Legion and the Siren Methodist Church, holding leadership offices in both. When her children were young, Rose was a Den Mother of two Cub Scout Troops.

Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Hulda Lund, an infant brother Harvey, her sister Joyce, brother Marvin, son Michael, and loving husband Wally.

Rose is survived by son Mark Nelson and his wife Lesley, grandchildren Emily (Chad) Sebo, Jessica (Adam) Poskozim, Nick (Amy) Nelson, and Syren (Joseph) Elsner, great-grandchildren Alyssa, Tyler, Elyanna, Adelaide, Lillian, Jordy, Brooks, and Samuel, nieces Ann (Harris) Alverez and Patty (Lund) Kropelnicki, and nephew Steven Harris.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Siren United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Lakeview/Mudhen Lake Cemetery.
