
In Memory of Roy S. Hansen
Roy Steven Hansen was born on November 28, 1944, in Salina, Kansas. He spent his childhood years growing up on his family’s farm. He attended high school in Minneapolis, Kansas, and graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.
Roy’s career started as a computer programmer, first for West Publishing, followed by Scientific Computers, then the US Postal Service.
In 1993, Roy’s career shifted to becoming the postmaster of Frederic, Wisconsin. He held that position until his retirement.
Roy lived life to the fullest, enjoying travel, including numerous cruises, time on the North Shore, winters in Alamo, Texas, and summer lake life on Johnson Lake. He loved to play golf and gather with friends. He was active in the community, volunteering with the Lions Club and at Fort Folle Avionne. He was a man of strong faith and a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Webster, WI. His biggest joy in life was his family. Roy loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife Lois, parents Kenneth and Clela Hansen, mother-in-law Ethel Pederson, father-in-law Luther Pederson, and sister Marie Carson.
He is survived by two daughters: Katina Lamberty (Paul) and Karie Thomas (Bob); grandchildren Elisabeth Boemer (Zack), Nick Thomas (Jenn), Travis Pidde (Kaity), Josie Greeney (Zach), and Andy Thomas; 7 great grandchildren, brother Pete Hansen (Nancy), brother-in-law Robert Carson, brother-in-law Gary Pederson (Pamela), sister-in-law Carol Whitman (Andy), and special friend Bonnie Niemi.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, August 17, at 11:00 AM (visitation from 9:30-11:00 AM) at Grace United Methodist Church in Webster, WI.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations can be made to either Grace United Methodist Church in Webster, WI, or Fort Folle Avionne in Danbury, WI.
