Russell Howard Roberts (age 87) went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on April 24, 2025.

Russell was born in Marquette, Michigan on April 20, 1938 to Thomas E. and P. Gwen Roberts. He graduated from Ironwood High School in 1956. He joined the US Air Force following high school where he served for four years, including time in Korea. Following his military service, he enrolled in college at the University of Minnesota, where he graduated in 1964 with a degree in Forestry. He married Suzanne Wold on September 14, 1963 in Cass Lake, Minnesota. He accepted a job with Owens-Illinois in woodlands management, initially in Tomahawk, Wisconsin and then in Ironwood, Michigan. His daughter, Kara Suzanne, was born on February 22, 1969. His son, Eric Jon, was born on March 10, 1970. He retired from Georgia Pacific in 1996. He and Suzanne then retired to Hayward, Wisconsin in 1997. He enjoyed many hobbies during his retirement including hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, woodworking, home brewing and traveling with his wife.

Russell passed away peacefully at Aspen Acres Assisted Living under the care of Moments Hospice on April 24, 2025.

He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas E. Roberts, Sr, his mother, P. Gwen (Anderson) Roberts, his older brother, Thomas E. Roberts, Jr. and his younger brother, William Roberts. He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Suzanne, his daughter Kara (Olumide), his son Eric (Christine), grandchildren Isaiah and Kylie, his younger brother Richard and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Hayward United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will follow the service at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin.
