In Memory of Ruth Thompson


March 26, 1923 - December 31, 2017

Ruth Catherine Thompson, 94, of Shell Lake died Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Shell Lake Healthcare Center. She was born March 26, 1923 in St. Croix Falls, WI to Joseph and Elizabeth (Spiedel) Fischer. 

Ruth worked at the Shell Lake Hospital as a dietitian and later at Tip Town Supper Club as a cook. She loved spending time in her massive flower and vegetable gardens. 

She is survived by children: Lynda (David) Smith of Eau Claire, Peggy (Mike) White of Baraboo and Theresa (Mike) Bircher of Grove City, OH; 5 grandsons: Larry, Lance and Luke Parker, Mike and Jason White; step granddaughter, Angie Bauer; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandsons; 1 brother, Emil Fischer of Pleasantville, MN; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her son, Scott Hillman; 8 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held at Friday, January 5, 2018; 2:00 PM at Skinner Funeral Home - Shell Lake with Pastor Sue Odegard officiating. Burial will be in Shell Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jason White, Mike White, Jr., Luke Parker, Lance Parker, David Smith and Mike Bircher. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service.
