In Memory of Sandra “Sandy” J. Kubesh
Sandra “Sandy” Jean Kubesh, age 64, of Rice Lake, WI, went to her heavenly home to be with her parents, her brother and our Lord and Savior on Friday, March 7, 2025 at her home. She was born on May 18, 1960 in Rice Lake to Virgil and Carol (Voelker) Haase. Sandy graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1978 where she was a cheerleader and became Miss Aquafest 1978. She went on to Cosmetology School in Eau Claire, WI. She was married to Rick Kubesh on August 7, 1982 at First Lutheran Church in Rice Lake. She worked for a salon in Chetek, WI, Jan’s Beauty Salon in Rice Lake, a salon in the Rice Lake Mini Mall, and then owned and operated Sandy’s Salon in Rice Lake from 1993 until the present time.
Sandy taught cosmetology at WITC in Rice Lake, and was the hairdresser at several nursing homes, funeral homes and assisted living facilities in the area. She was also an electrolysis and a nail technician. Sandy was loved and cherished by all that knew her. Her smile and personality lit up a room even though she was a little and petite person. She enjoyed her customers immensely - treated them with respect as if they were her family member.
Sandy touched so many lives and had a positive impact on so many lives. Sandy loved her family with all her heart, her grandbabies were her pride and joy. She enjoyed spending time with her sister-in-law, Kim playing purse bingo, traveling trips, doing crafts at the Rice Lake Library, garage saleing and playing cards. Sandy enjoyed watching Travis bowl and stopped at his house every Sunday to spend time with her granddaughters. Sandy loved her time with Britta, going to greenhouses, teaching her how to cook, and taught her how to be a good mom and life lessons. Sandy met the love of her life, Rick at the bowling alley and enjoyed every minute and moment with each other. They enjoyed their last trip together in Las Vegas in November and acted like newlyweds. She was a fantastic cook, enjoyed scrapbooking, started bowling at a young age and it continued throughout her life.
Sandy was the life of the party and became involved spiritually and mentally to her friends and family. Sandy was a friend to many many people, but she was loved by all who ever met her. She was very active at First Lutheran Church. She was part of the funeral lunches, coordinator of the church directory and annual picnic, was a Chair of the Family Life Ministry, ran the projector system and also started a craft retreat. Sandy’s favorite holiday was Thanksgiving and could have a beautiful table of food and family traditions. She loved making Christmas cookies with her grandchildren and her husband Rick; and they gave them all away to her wonderful customers to brighten up their day.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rick Kubesh; 2 amazing children, Travis (Cassandra) Kubesh and Britta (David) Gianoli; 4 beautiful grandchildren, Hailie and Remi Kubesh & Luca and Jackson Gianoli; her special canine companion, Abbie; a brother, Jeff (Janet) Haase; sister-in-law, Kim Haase; a special niece and Goddaughter, Beth Ann Haase (Marquis Turner); and step nieces and step nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Carol Haase; and a brother, Tom Haase. Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Saturday, March 15, 2025 at First Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Jon Cluppert officiating, with interment in Meadow Creek Cemetery in Rice Lake. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Friday at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the Funeral Service at the church.
