Seth Drinkwater, age 75, a resident of the Town of Casey, died on Monday, June 4, 2018, at Essentia Health- St. Mary’s in Duluth.

Seth was born on July 15, 1942, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to parents Eugene and Shirley (Medley) Drinkwater.  He briefly attended the one room Dunn Lake School and also the Hammel Elementary School in Spooner at different times as he would return to Dunn Lake in between his father’s military assignments being a Navy dependent, which had him travel often in his younger years.  The family moved from the area and he later graduated from Oak Harbor High School in Washington on June 1, 1960.  After high school, he attended 2 years of Junior College in Napa, California, and then in April of 1963, he joined the U.S. Army and served 6 years, the first 4 of which he spent along the Demilitarized Military Zone of South Korea.  He was transferred to the Army Reserves in 1968, and was honorably discharged in April of 1969.  On September 1, 1971, he was united in marriage to Sun Ja Baker in Tahoe, Nevada.  He began working for United Airlines in San Francisco in 1968 and would make a 35 year career with them retiring in 2002 as a ground control supervisor.  He would continue to live in the San Francisco area until 2012 when he moved back home to the north end of Dunn Lake.  Seth enjoyed listening to 1950’s music, Military History, reading Spy/Action Adventure novels, and fishing on Dunn Lake in his younger years. 

Seth is survived by his wife Sun Ja, son Joseph (Sarah), and siblings: James (Jeannie) Drinkwater, Linda Drinkwater, and 3 granddaughters. 

Seth is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Seth Drinkwater will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018, at 11am at the Spooner Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Miller officiating.  Visitation will be at the Funeral Home on Monday from 10 until 11am.  Interment will follow at the Spooner Cemetery.
