In Memory of Sharon L. Menke


August 28, 1938 - March 8, 2024

Sharon Lee (McNeil) Menke succumbed to injuries and went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2024. Sharon was born to Rollo and Hilda Hembrook on August 28, 1938, in Chetek, WI. After graduating from Chetek HS, she went on to graduate from Abbott Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a RN for over 40 years, the last of which were at Capeside Cove in Siren. She also served for many years on the WITC Nursing Assistant Advisory Board and taught over 800 Nursing Assistant students throughout upper Wisconsin.

Sharon was a Girl Scout and 4H leader, Charter member of the Webster Lioness Club where she had perfect attendance for 44 years. She served at the district level for Lions International in various capacities over the years, including being an advocate for the Lions camp in Rosholt, WI. She was a member of the Burnett County Board of Health and Human Services for many years. She was a member of her church’s administrative boards for numerous years, played organ at church, and sang in the choir. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, playing bridge and gardening.

She married Bob McNeil in 1961 and he preceded her in death in 1997. In 2000 she married Vincent Menke, who passed in 2022. Others who preceded her were her parents, Rollo and Hilda, brother Wayne Hembrook, and brothers-in-law Jim Botts, Don McNeil, and Ron McNeil.

She is survived by her daughters Janet (Rick) Moe and Cathy (Bruce Meyer) Sikorski; grandchildren Riley Sikorski, Paige Sikorski, Brady Sikorski, Jennifer (Steve) Michael, Jared Moe, great grandchildren Colton, Carter, Michael, Ella, Leland, Charlotte, Noah and Julian as well as sister Judith Botts, sisters-in-law Edna May Taylor and Phyllis McNeil and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held at Swedberg Taylor Funeral Home in Webster on Tuesday March 26th from 3 – 6 pm with a service lead by Pastor Steve Ward at 6 pm. A private family burial will be held at Lake View Cemetery in Chetek, WI.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
