In Memory of Shirley M. (Scott) Hogan
Shirley Marie Hogan, age 97, passed on to her heavenly father on October 17th, 2025, at Dove Health Care in Rice Lake, Wisconsin (1928-2025).
Shirley was a spirited and loving woman who embraced life on her own terms and devoted herself fiercely to her family. Her laughter, strength, and unmistakable tenacity touched everyone who knew her. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always showing up with joy and unwavering love.
Born and raised in rural Osseo, Minnesota, Shirley grew up on the family farm surrounded by her parents, grandparents, and two younger sisters. She graduated in 1942 from Osseo High School as a varsity cheerleader and homecoming queen. Her early years on the farm shaped her grit and her love for family. Throughout her life, she wore many hats but found her greatest passion as a restaurant and bar owner. Later, she returned to the country life she loved, settling on a farm with her beloved husband, Walt. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.
In her later years, Shirley and Walt enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida, Arizona and Texas, always seeking sunshine and the company of family and friends. She delighted in simple pleasures, like playing bingo, embroidery, reading and card games, never missing an opportunity to join in the fun.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Marie Scott; her husband, Walter Hogan; her sister, Barbara (Bob) Larson; her daughter, Kathleen Andreason; and stepdaughter Kathy Hogan.
She is survived by her sister, Adele Nelson; her children, Terry (Julie) Toomey, Dawn (Ty) Rogers, and Danny (Sandy) Dahlstrom; her stepchildren, Pete (Mary) Hogan, Tom (Sheri) Hogan and Joe Hogan; her grandchildren, Michael (Deni) Toomey, Eve (Charlie) Toomey-Daniels, Maria (Ben) Cooper, Dustin (Theresa) Weyenberg, Courtney Rogers (Justin Frisinger), Lucas (Carrie) Dahlstrom, and Sam Dahlstrom (Mikayla Riecica); and 11 beloved great-grandchildren.
Shirley’s vibrant spirit and boundless love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with those she held dear.
