In Memory of Shirley Scheman
Shirley M. Scheman, age 94, of Sarona, WI, formerly of Hayward and Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at her residence in Sarona. Shirley was born in Milwaukee, WI on November 18, 1925 to Walther and Hilda (Schneider) Marien.
She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Scheman of Sarona, WI; a daughter, Randee Lynn (Larry) Stecker of Sarona, WI; and a son, Loren (Eleanor) Scheman of Mesa, AZ.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She attended Milwaukee public schools and the Layton Art Institute, specializing in human figure painting in water color. She also studied drafting for women’s clothing. She was employed by Singer Sewing Co. as an instructor and in sales and later employed by several Milwaukee companies as the payroll manager. After returning from Washington DC, she became active as a women’s tailor specializing in clothing design and alterations. Shirley later opened a drapery business, specializing in high end design of window treatments.
Shirley was a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den leader and received a District Scouting Key recognition.
She will be laid to rest in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Spooner, WI.
