Steven Donald Quarders, age 69, of Prairie Farm, WI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 14, 1956, in Kenosha, WI to Donald and Carol (Minor) Quarders. He was the second of six children.

He lived in and attended school in Kenosha until December of 1969, when they moved to a place in the country near Prairie Farm. There, he went to school from the 7th grade to the 12th grade, graduating in 1975. He then went on to study auto mechanics at WITC in Rice Lake, WI.

On June 23, 1979, Steve married Denise Lien at the United Lutheran Church in Prairie Farm. They lived a very short time in Barron and then moved to live in Prairie Farm, where they started raising their three children: Nicole, Amy and Cory. In August of 1986, they purchased their home in the country near Prairie Farm.

Over the years, his carpentry skills came in handy as he completely remodeled the entire house, which included 2 additions. This location has provided many years of deer hunting and deer hunting stories as well as beautiful scenery and views.

Through the years he worked for American Materials as a ready-mix hauler, was a self-employed carpenter and drywall finisher and most recently was an assistant farm manager for Jenni-O Turkey Store. He worked there until an injury and then later retired.

Steve had a WIDE variety of hobbies that included hunting, reloading ammo, fishing, snowmobiling, motorcycling, camping, archery, processing venison meat and making it into summer sausage, snack sticks, bratwurst, ring bologna and polish sausage. He didn’t stop there because he also enjoyed making homemade pasta, tomato sauce, canning, baking and cooking. He really was a “Jack of all trades”! He was always willing to, and up for the challenge to try something new and typically had a way of diving into it 110%.

Recently, with YouTube, what he did not already know…he would research and learn. He was not afraid to give things a try! In the later years, he was making European deer mounts for family, along with turkey tail mounts, like I said… the variety was huge!

In addition to his hobbies, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren and tried to expose the grandkids to learning and doing things right along with him, including baking cakes and decorating them, making homemade pasta and cranking the handle on the pasta machine to turn ravioli, spaghetti and lasagna noodles. There were also days spent squirrel hunting, deer hunting and fishing. These brought about lessons on how to skin, clean, and cook up your “kill.”

Steve was preceded in death by his parents: Donald and Carol Quarders, one niece: Sarah Perry, one brother-in-law: Randy Loofboro and his in-laws: Orville and Lorraine Lien.

He is survived by his wife: Denise, daughters: Nicole (Jon) Hile of Cumberland and Amy (Chuck) Richards of Clayton, son: Cory (Mandy) Quarders of Cameron, 7 wonderful grandchildren: Noah and Caleb Hile, Paityn, Paige and Parker Richards and Cate and Casey Quarders, brother: Jeffery (Donna) Quarders of Prairie Farm, sisters: Shirlie (Chuck) Krig of Prairie Farm, Shellie (Lawrence) Lyste of Barron, Tracie (Ken) Duckworth of New Auburn and Julie ( Ernie) Sharpley of New Auburn, as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at the Ridgeland Community Center in Ridgeland on Friday, July 24, 2026. It will run from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. A short program will begin at 11 with food and fellowship to follow. A private interment will be held at 10 a.m. the following day at Akers Cemetery near Prairie Farm, WI.
