In Memory of Teresa C. Strand
In memory of Teresa "Terrie" Catherine Strand, a lively spirit with a green thumb and a song in her heart, who departed this world on January 26, 2025, at the age of 78. A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Terrie's incredible journey began on November 1, 1946, in Minneapolis, MN, and culminated amidst the tranquil beauty of her home in Sarona, WI.
Her gentle heart, warm smile, and unwavering dedication to nurturing both plants and people will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A graduate of St. Cloud Cathedral High School, Terrie went on to complete her undergraduate and master's degrees at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Armed with wit, wisdom, and a profound love for children, Terrie dedicated her career to nurturing young minds as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher at Como Elementary within the St. Paul Public Schools.
Terrie married the love of her life, David John Strand, on August 20, 1969, in Savage, Minnesota. Together for 55+ years, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Terrie's life was filled with passion and creativity. She was a member of the Master Gardeners of Spooner, where she shared her love for vegetable and flower gardening. A gifted artist, her beautifully crafted Ukrainian eggs were particularly treasured by many. A woman of varied interests, Terrie found joy in reading, spending time with her dogs, singing, swimming, and spending time outdoors, especially on the serene waters of Moody Lake. Her adventurous spirit led her on many travels, but her heart was always with her family and her garden.
She leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly. Terrie is survived by her devoted husband, David, her loving daughter Susan (Rick Davis) Strand of Trout Creek, MT, and her caring son Brian (Kate) Strand of Shakopee, MN. She leaves behind her adored grandchild, Beckett Strand, and step-grandchild, Cameron Davis. Terrie was also a dear aunt to nine nieces, five nephews, and beloved by other extended family.
Terrie was the cherished daughter of the late Teresa and Albert Maeder. Preceded in death by her sisters Clare Linman and Mary Susan Maeder, as well as her brothers James, Albert, and Michael Maeder, Terrie takes with her the memories of a family rich in stories.
A gathering to celebrate and remember Terrie's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will come together to honor her legacy of kindness, creativity, and warmth. It promises to be filled with laughter, tears, and Terrie-approved wit, shared among friends and family. Her family invites those whose lives she touched to join them in commemorating her enduring spirit.
Though the world has lost a bit of its sparkle, Terrie’s legacy continues to blossom in the gardens she tended and the lives she enriched with her love and laughter.
