In Memory of Teresa E. Henseler


January 15, 1955 - April 19, 2022

Teresa E. Henseler, a resident of Danbury, WI passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the Marshfield Medical Center in Eau Claire, WI with her loved ones by her side.

Teresa was born on January 15, 1955 in Garrison, North Dakota to parents Orville Henseler and Wilma Evans. She attended Minneapolis South High School then went on to Rasmussen Business College.

Teresa grew up all over the state of Minnesota settling in Shell Lake for 30 years before moving to Danbury. Teresa lived and worked in the St. Croix Tribal Community for many years. Teresa played an integral role in creating the St. Croix Tribes Tobacco Shops. She turned a few cardboard boxes of tobacco into what you see today and was extremely proud of her accomplishments.

Teresa enjoyed going on long drives through the country with her life partner Louis Matrious Jr. They would often just hop in the car go wherever the road lead them. They went all over the country to see and experience all sort of new things.

Teresa had a heart of gold and would always find a way to help someone in need no matter what the case was. Teresa was fantastic at beadwork, making moccasins which many people wore on their final journey home, earrings and jewelry, dream catchers and all sorts of native arts and crafts. She also enjoyed making fry bread. She was a big part of the tribal community and will be missed by many.

She is preceded in death by her life partner of 38 years, Louis Matrious Jr.; grandmother, Helen Evans; and nephew, Michael Mattoon.

Teresa leaves behind her mother, Wilma (Evans) Fargo; best friends, Roxanne Wold and Rod Matrious; children Nichole (Marcos) Matrious-Mella-Lalane, of Shell Lake, Marla (Michael) Decorah, of Webster; grandchildren, Brandon, Payton, Cameron, Tala, Zyla; great grandchildren, Ethan and Dakota; 3 sisters; 1 brother; along with many other loving relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will take place on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, WI.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
