In Memory of Timothy Dalhberg

February 14, 1951 - July 16, 2021

Timothy (Swede) Dahlberg, 70 years old, passed away at his home in Grantsburg, WI with his loved ones by his side Friday, July 16th after his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Tim was born February 14, 1951 to Leonard and Esther (Sederlund) Dahlberg.

Tim came into this world 6 weeks early weighing 2 lbs. 4 oz at the Frederic Hospital. The nurses called him “Tiny Tim” and that name stuck as his mother did not have the heart to change the name. The family moved from the Clam Falls area to Danbury, WI when Tim was 3 years old. His school years were spent in Danbury and Webster making many friends along the way. One of his childhood friends, Phillip Jackson, reconnected with Tim in the past year. This was such a blessing to Tim. His high school years were spent with his best friend Jerry Hokanson by his side every step of the way from living together after high school to working at the same job until retirement. So where one was the other wasn’t too far away.

In 1972 Tim met Marie at Crooked Lake Park in Siren. Marie and her friends Debbie and Cyndi walked to the park where Tim was swimming with Jerry (Cyndi’s cousin). Introductions were made with an instant bond between Tim and Marie. Tim stated he liked the girl in purple, well all three girls had purple on that day, this was a standing joke between us, all these years.

Tim and Marie (Halverson) were united in marriage on July 14, 1973 at the Falun Baptist Church. They were blessed with three children Erin, Michael and Trista. Tim and Marie lived in St. Paul a short time while Tim worked for Control Data then moved home to Wisconsin when they were expecting their first child. Tim began his 40-year career with Northwestern WI Electric Company in 1974. He started working in the diesel plant and worked his way up to a lineman. The last years at NWECO were spent rebuilding sub stations. He took pride in each job. Tim and Marie lived in Grantsburg 18 years in their home they purchased from Grandpa Dahlberg, in 1992 the family moved to the country just outside of Grantsburg where Tim dreamed of having land to build his large garage. Tim loved spending time in his garage with many projects through the years. Tim retired from NWECO in 2014, this was a difficult transition as he was not used to sitting idle. He filled his days with frequent trips to Red Lobster and shopping for tools he might need for a future project. If he had one tool, you could almost guarantee he had 3 more of the same. Tim decided he needed something more to do with his time, so he soon started driving truck and delivering rafters for K-Wood. Tim was very talented and was always starting a new project whether it was building his garage, remodeling their home, or adding on to make it just right for Marie. Tim rebuilt a few trucks, cutting down the chassis to make dump trucks. If Tim didn’t know how to do something, he became quite internet savvy and would research until he knew what he needed to do. One of Tim’s beloved interests was riding his Harley. He bought a bike and completed a conversion making it into a trike.

Tim loved his family very much and was always guiding the kids and grandkids on how to do so many things. Tim loved when they asked questions, he didn’t always have a quick answer, but he would think about and talk it out with them. He was still teaching them this last month when a question was asked about JB weld, this brought a quick witted, “no, no, no” response from Tim. Tim was always the first to help others and treated everybody he met with respect. He always had a smile on his face and that smile was contagious. A couple of the many things Tim will be remembered for is his smile and kind heart.

Preceding Tim in Death are his parents, Leonard and Esther Dahlberg; son, Michael; brothers, Jerry, Darrell and Duane; and sister, Jan.

Tim is survived by his wife, Marie of 48 years; daughters, Erin (Patrick) Fowler and Trista Dahlberg; grandchildren, Joshua, Rilee, Jackson, Jacob and Emma Dahlberg; Great granddaughter, Harley Dahlberg; all of Grantsburg, WI.
